DONE YOUR TIME~
Dear Gabe,
I started this journal for you in 2004, when you left for Basic Training. Perhaps it was more for me than it was for you. In the letters to follow I wrote words of faith, encouragement and love. I drew strength from my need to believe those words as I typed them. My fear of the unthinkable was kept at bay as I tried to convey my faith in your safety first through basic and then through your deployments in Iraq.
A mother's fear is often suppressed and hidden as she tries to comfort and support. It is over. You are out. I can now, for the first time in years, really breath easily.
I am so proud of you for your commitment to your country and the world. But I am so relieved that your time is up.
Welcome to civilian life Gabe. It's time to relax. You've earned it.
Love you always,
Mom~
